As a junior high school student, I have experienced many holidays with my family and friends. However, the holiday that left the deepest impression on me was the winter vacation of my eighth-grade year. During that holiday, my parents took me to Hainan, a beautiful island in southern China, for a family trip. The trip lasted for ten days, and it was truly an unforgettable experience.
On the first day of our trip, we arrived at Haikou Meilan International Airport. As soon as we stepped out of the airport, we were greeted by the warm tropical air and the lush green scenery. We took a taxi to our hotel, where we dropped off our luggage and freshened up. After a quick rest, we decided to explore the nearby beach.
The beach was just steps away from our hotel, and it was stunningly beautiful. The sand was soft and golden, the water was clear and blue, and the sun was shining brightly. We spent the entire afternoon swimming, building sandcastles, and playing beach volleyball. It was so much fun that we didn’t want to leave when the sun started to set.
In the following days, we visited several famous attractions in Hainan, such as the Pozhao Temple, the Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone, and the Yanoda Rain Forest Cultural Tourism Zone. Each place had its own unique charm and beauty. At the Pozhao Temple, we learned about the history of Buddhism in China and admired the magnificent architecture of the temple. At the Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone, we saw the largest bronze Buddha statue in the world and enjoyed the breathtaking views of Sanya Bay. At the Yanoda Rain Forest Cultural Tourism Zone, we walked through the dense forest, breathed in the fresh air, and observed various exotic plants and animals.
Apart from sightseeing, we also tried some local delicacies during our trip. One of my favorite dishes was the Wenchang chicken, which is a famous Hainanese dish made with chicken cooked in a special way. It was so delicious that I couldn’t stop eating it. We also tried other local snacks like coconut rice cakes, mango pudding, and seafood. They were all very tasty and left a lasting impression on me.
At night, we would often go to the beach to watch the stars or walk along the coastline. The night sky in Hainan was incredibly clear, with countless stars twinkling above us. We could see constellations that we never saw back home due to light pollution. Walking on the beach under the starry sky felt magical and romantic.
Overall, my winter vacation in Hainan was one of my best holiday experiences. It was not only a great opportunity for me to relax and unwind but also a chance for me to learn about different cultures and try new things. I made wonderful memories with my family during this trip, and I will cherish them forever.
